Sylvain Horwood is the son of Master [Graham Horwood](https://taoistgroup.com/about), who founded the Taoist Group in 1976 and taught Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan for over 35 years. Sylvain looks after taoistgroup.com today, keeping his father’s teaching, [books](https://taoistgroup.com/books) and [videos](https://taoistgroup.com/videos) available to everyone.

Raised on an organic, macrobiotic diet in 1980s London, Sylvain moved to Zürich in 2015. Struggling to find truly natural products in Switzerland, he began crafting his own, which led to the founding of [PURU](https://puru.ch), the 100% natural Swiss sun care brand, in 2018, along with Captain PURU, a cuddly Pudgy Penguins character. Captain PURU is the mascot of the PURU Transgascogne sailing race and a central figure in PURU’s mission to promote natural health and sustainability to children and adults.

With a background in enterprise software engineering and institutional finance, Sylvain is also the founder of [Goldcote](https://goldcote.com), and his brands include PURU, Pureternia and Lake Safe. He writes on natural health, well-being and the sun, and for children.
